The Story

Imagine the impossible task of building a universe from absolutely nothing at all. Before the first star, the first drop of water, the first sound — what does the empty lot itself need to already be able to do?

This episode works backward from a finished universe to the one thing that had to come first: not a void, but a charged field already capable of something happening in it. Physics arrives at the same corner from a different direction — the quantum vacuum isn't empty, and even Einstein came to see that space itself is a structure with properties, not a true nothing. Across traditions with no contact between them — Vedic ākāśa, Chinese qi, Greek pneuma, Hebrew ruach — the same discovery repeats: before form, a trembling field, already humming with what it hasn't decided to become yet.
